How The Avengers success will affect the possiblity of a Justice League movie

With The Avengers coming out in less than 3 weeks, there are already early rumblings from the people who attended the red carpet premiere of the film that this movie is one for the ages. I'll wait till I see it to form my opinion on it. But here's the thing, if this movie kicks epic amounts of ass, and makes a shit load of money.. you can all start expecting a Justice League movie as soon as the next Batman movie after The Dark Knight Rises comes out. We already have the Man Of Steel coming out next year.. believe me folks the process of making a Batman reboot will be done shortly.. because there is lots of money to be made.

But how will The Avengers pave the way for Warner Brothers to make an equally good DC counterpart? If The Avengers is as good as everyone is saying it is right now, it will be the template of how to make a good hero team-up movie. The formula, the right balance of each hero having a story and purpose of being in the movie, nice action, and a coherrent plot. But a Justice League movie might possibly be light on the action and more heavy on the plot due to me reading a few JLA comics. But that's also a DC and Marvel thing.. DC is more heavy on plot meanwhile Marvel is more about the action. So I hope that The Avengers is both financially and critically successful so that we can finally have a Justice League movie.

Or just have a Batman and Superman movie.. that will be good too.

An update: Name change and the mission statement of the website.

I know I haven't been posting enough this month, but I haven't really the time to do so.. I need to get myself ready for the two episode premiere of my show and have to move out of the house in a few weeks. Times are crazy, but I will get through it.

Now the name change: I didn't like my name so I changed it. My name is Paterfamilias, and it is a reference to "O' brother where art thou", one of my favorite movies. It rolls off the tongue doesn't it, and i think it has more presence than my last name.

And with that I also changed the name of my site to BEYOND THE TAPE. Because I really love VHS, I grew up with VHS'. That old beeping noise when you start the tape still gives me goosebumps. Plus the name gives you an idea of what I am about: Nostalgia. I believe that the single most relate able thing in this planet that sew us together is the past. We love the old tv shows, movies, and video games; that's why TV give us reruns, movie theaters re release movies, and the internet show us old clips of of everything including games. It's the past that shape us of what we are today, memories; GOOD AND BAD. That's is why critics like The Nostalgia Critic, James Rolfe, and Spoony is so popular on the web, they recognize what their audience is and they deliver week after week . Hopefully I will be able to do that for you, forget about what the hell is going in this mad, mad, mad world of ours, and watch my videos to get your mind off things and bask in the glory days.

And with that, I am off to write some more scripts for upcoming episodes. Bye!

Kevin's Recommendations: Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Khan

  • Star Trek 2 The Wrath Of Khan
This is more than a Star Trek movie, it is one of the best movies ever. Every scene in the movie has a point and has purpose for the entire movie. The music is terrific and everyone gives a good performance. It has this theme of getting older and the attempt to feel young again (I.E The Genesis project) But all that is at the back of the car for me as I enjoy Ricardo Montalban as Khan as he gives us one of the most memorable performances ever. He is like reliving a future version of Moby Dick (Kirk is the Whale as Khan is Captain Ahab). Even if you haven't watched a Star Trek episode in your life, you will enjoy this movie.. it is that good and is that viewer friendly.

To Live and Die In LA Text Review (With Spoilers)

What the movie with Wang Chung music?

No the movie that explores the world of counterfeiting money, and has a young Willem Dafoe and that dude from CSI William Petersen. I will admit at first, I didn't know what the hell this movie was about, all I remember was the music in it. But after watching the movie a few more times, I realized that I stumble upon a hidden gem.. and most of the people I asked if they know about this movie, they say "Nope." This movie is one of the best 80's movies out there... but still behind Back To The Future and Batman 1989.

So what's the movie about? Well it's about a cop named Richard Chance hunting down a notorious counterfeiter name Eric Masters that is basically the dude when it comes to counterfeiting money in LA.
